Echoes of War' Festival Weekend 23-24 September at Menston Parish Church.
An ongoing part of Menston village’s commemoration of WW1 and the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Passchendale, hosted by St John’s Church.
Flower Festival – viewing Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday 12noon – 5.30pm
Exhibition of textile hangings - ‘Threads of War’, first displayed at the Royal Armouries in 2015.
A simulated WW1 ‘trench’ on the pathway into the church.
2,000 knitted, felt and crocheted poppies produced by many village ladies and displayed in the churchyard – evocative of the Tower of London poppy displays.
‘Light Perpetual’ Concert Saturday 23 at 7.30pm.
A joint words-and-music event with St Peter’s Singers, conducted by Simon Lindley and Trio Literati interweaving Faure’s Requiem with poetry from war zones past and present. Tickets £12 from 01943 872433.
