Curates Training Programme
Initial Ministerial Education (IME) Phase 2

A new integrated programme across the diocese was launched in the summer of 2016. All curates from the three historic dioceses which came together to form the Anglican diocese of Leeds now follow the same programme of meetings and the same process of assessment.

The curates’ handbook and further documentation can be downloaded below. This includes an overview of the 2016-17 programme. Dates for area groups will sent out by your area IME officer.

There are three strands to curate training:

* First and most important is the learning that happens in the parish with the training incumbent. The diocesan Clergy Development Officers support this relationship in various ways.

* Second is a series of meetings with other curates and the Clergy Development Officer to reflect together on aspects of the curates’ experience of ministry) like funerals, weddings, the Eucharist etc.) and to learn about other types of ministry (like Fresh Expressions, Prison Chaplaincy etc.)

* The third strand takes the form of one academic module per year on an aspect of ministry and theology. These modules are for all the curates in the Yorkshire Regional Training Partnership and can lead to various qualifications, including an MA, for those who wish to do so.

The IME programme is overseen the team of Clergy Development Officers (CDO) and delivered in each area by the area CDO:
