Communications training

The communications department offers various types of training to help parishes communicate and promote themselves effectively.

In 2019 the training provided will be focussed on social media.  In today's world, social media is everywhere and has become one of the most important ways in which we communicate, view information and connect with other people. We believe there is now a brilliant opportunity to take advantage of this newfound technology, in order to share the good news of Jesus. As a team in 2019 our goal is to help equip and encourage churches, in the Diocese of Leeds, to make the most of the opportunity.

Social and Digital Media for Churches

We are running two training days at Church House, Leeds for all ages and abilities. Running from 10am until 4pm, these will be practical days focused on topics such as:

  • Facebook - basics, analytics and posting strategy
  • Twitter - basics, analytics and posting strategy
  • Instagram - basics, analytics and posting strategy
  • Facebook advertising
  • Dealing with negativity online and safeguarding considerations
  • Writing for the web
  • Audiences
  • A Church Near You

If you are involved in using social and digital media at your church then this day is for you. Unfortunately, the first of these on June 3 is fully booked but there is a second one taking place on September 17 with places available. It will be lead by the Diocese of Leeds Communications team. 

Social Media Skills Camps 

Taking place in each of the areas, we are inviting anyone to join us for Social Media Skills Camps. These evenings aim to bring people together to share, discuss and discover how we can best use social media in our churches. Each evening will also include presentations about chosen topics and create a space for attendees to share their ideas about the latest social media trends.
