Fifteen intrepid travellers set off for London last Sunday straight after morning worship at Holy Ascension, Settle to attend ‘The Big Sing’ for Songs of Praise at the Albert Hall.
The episodes were recorded over a 4 hour session and will contribute to two special episodes of Songs of Praise.
The first episode is a Tribute to a Queen – The Big Sing
which goes out at 4.20pm this Sunday on BBC One. Find out more or listen after the event here. The programme is a special Songs of Praise in honour of Queen Elizabeth who became the UK’s longest-reigning monarch on 9 September.
The group reckon that you probably won't see any of their faces on the broadcasts as they were so high up in the Hall, but it was an amazing experience and insight into the making of the programmes and a great privilege to be part of them.
The second recording they contributed to will be broadcast later in the year and is a Christmas special.
After arriving at the Albert Hall at 5pm and recording for 4 hours the group returned home – not reaching Settle until 3.30am. A long day – but all agreed time well spent.
