Starting Something New

Session leader: Nic Findlay

Nic Findlay

After 5 years pioneering a lay-led missional community on a council estate on the outskirts of Cambridge, Nic and her husband felt called to move to Norris Green in North Liverpool. They've been there for 18 months and are in the early stages of exploring what it looks like to make disciples in this new context. Nic is passionate about trying to figure out what it means to follow Jesus with her family, and how to invite others into that journey. She is also passionate about how to do that as a lay person in the midst of everyday life rather than as a member of the clergy. Nic is Mum to Sarah, 2, and Lucy, 6 months, and married to Hamish. She loves proper coffee, being outside, reading anything and everything, and hanging out with people.

Session outline: Starting Something New

Jesus went out and about and met people where they were. What might it mean to follow his lead today? How can we imaginatively connect with those in our communities who will never walk through our church doors on a Sunday morning? This session will take a practical look at different ways of connecting with our communities and making disciples in the midst of daily life, including pioneering new initiatives.
