St George's Church in Leeds, determined to share hope and joy this Christmas have produced a short video called Christmas Hope. 
Hundreds of people would normally be welcomed into their building for a Contemporary Carol Service, a service of carols and pop songs led by a band designed to connect the Christmas story with young people.
"It's one of our highlights in the year," said Revd Eve Ridgeway, Associate Rector.
"Because of Covid, we were really sad to miss it, but determined to do something that would still share hope and joy this Christmas."
Whilst under restrictions, the church decided to produce the short video to share online. With a team of creatives, an original spoken word was written especially for 2020, accompanied by an original arrangement of Hark the Herald Angels sing, arranged by Dan Hebden, the Worship Pastor.
"We've got so many fantastic musicians and creative people in their twenties and thirties in our church, it was great to gather some of them and do something new this Christmas," said Revd Eve.
The video was filmed on location in Headingley and the city centre, with the band appearing in Leeds Minster.
"We are really grateful to Revd Canon Sam Corley, the Rector of Leeds Minster, for allowing us to film in a covid secure way in such a beautiful church, showcasing another amazing location in Leeds."
Dan Hebden said, "The video has already been viewed over 6000 times on social media and we hope that only continues to rise."
"People need to hear a message of hope and comfort this Christmas and we really believe our Christmas Hope video provides that'.
St George's is looking forward to welcoming people to their Online Christmas Day Service at 10:30am.
"It's fantastic to be able to join with others from our homes, even if we can't gather in great numbers in person,' said Revd Eve.
