Church of England issues new election advice for churches

The Church of England has shared its updated advice on how churches can get involved in the election season, as well as their responsibilities while doing so.
The Churches’ Legislation Advisory Service has issued updated guidelines, which can be found here.
The Charity Commission have also advised that those interested should read their guidance on campaigning and political activity, and their guidance that applies during an election.
They have also published lessons learned during the last election in 2017.
As well as responsibilities under charity law, churches need to be aware of the rules on 'third party campaigning' under electoral law.
The Electoral Commission has worked with charities to produce 'Non-party campaigners: where to start', using real-life case studies to provide advice to charity campaigners.
