Halifax Minster launches Summer Festival 2018

Halifax Minster's Summer Festival 2018 kicks off at the end of the month and guarantees eleven days packed with exciting performances.

It opens on Thursday, June 28 with a free organ recital by Dr Simon Lindley and closes with an invitation to join the Minster Choir for a special Choral Evensong on Sunday, July 8.

BBC Radio 4 will broadcast its Sunday Morning Worship Live programme from the Minster on Sunday, July 1 with all those wishing to take part needing to be seated by 7.45am.

Other highlights include Halifax Choral Society, currently celebrating its bicentenary, which will perform a celebration of 200 years of choral music on Saturday, June 30 at 7.30pm, tickets priced £10 and free for u16s.

Going further back in musical time are York Waits, who take their name from the ancient city band of York which had its heyday in the 16th centrury. They will be performing period music, plus their own arrangements of popular dances and ballads on Saturday, July 7, tickets priced £10, children £5.
