The magazine of one of our churches has been honoured with a national award.
‘Adel Bells’, the magazine for the parish of Adel cum Eccup recently was awarded the Gold Award from the Association for Church Editors.
Marjorie Cole, editor of the magazine, said: “We are all feeling very excited and encouraged to know that our magazine has been recognised as a gold award winner.
“We shall also receive an engraved glass award, which will be ours to keep.”
In addition to the usual incumbent's letter and church news, the magazine contains accessible but challenging theological pieces from other contributors, as well as nature and gardening notes written by local experts.
There are also often pieces related to the historic church, written by a local expert with contributions from around the world.
It acts as a community magazine, with regular information from York Gate garden, from schools, from the local Amateur dramatic group Adel Players and from local councillors.
