Photography fills Otley church

All Saints Otley became an exhibition centre at the weekend, as the Otley Camera Club held a display of photographs with the church as the backcloth.

More than sixty photographs were displayed throughout the church building with a selection of digital images in the café area.

“The Camera Club made full use of the church building” said Mary Thorpe of Otley Camera Club.

“Visitors came from across the diocese as well as from further afield, and money raised over the weekend will be shared with the Otley Parish Scout group.”

Mary, who has joined the new Leeds Diocese Facebook Camera Club group, says that the exhibition has shown how a church building can be used for the benefit of the local community.

“I would encourage other churches to offer their buildings to clubs within their communities as outreach opportunities,” she added.

Meanwhile, another church holding a photography exhibition is St Martin’s Church, Potternewton Leeds with an exhibition from Saturday 21 April to Sunday 13 May. More details here http://www.leeds.anglican.org/events/photography-exhibition

The Facebook camera club is invited anyone keen on photography to join and share their pictures of the life of the church and diocese. Visit ‘Leeds CofE Camera Club’ on Facebook.
