Santa dashes through Huddersfield hospital

A local chaplain has completed a Santa Dash around Huddersfield Royal Infirmary to raise money for a local charity.

The Revd George Spencer, co-ordinating chaplain at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Hospitals Trust, completed the short run dressed as Santa Clause. Along the way George also found the time to drop off bags of chocolate covered sprouts to patients receiving treatment on the hospital wards.

The run formed part of a larger Santa Dash organised by Huddersfield Lions, which took place later in the morning and all the funds raised are to be given to Talkthru, a local charity which provides counselling for mums and dads who have lost babies during pregnancy.

"I completed the dash at 8.30am on Sunday morning and was a little red cheeked at the 9.30am service in the Hospital Chapel," explained George.

"But the pain that losing a baby during pregnancy causes can be unbearable and stays with people for a long time. Therefore, to be able to raise money for Talkthru, which has a proven record of helping people to move on, is an honour."

So far George has managed to raise over £500. If you would like to support him and contribute to the work that Talkthru do, please follow this link to make a donation.
