Vicar seeks his Cinderella

VICAR seeks his Cinderella as a Barnsley church reinstates an old tradition and brings back its annual pantomime.

There hasn’t been a panto for over 20 years in St John’s, Staincross, but this year, the curate at the United Benefice of Darton, Staincross and Mapplewell, the Revd John Fisher has different plans …and is looking for a Cinderella.

Said John: It's been more than twenty years since there was a pantomime in the church hall at St John's on Greenside in Staincross.

“For years the church hall has been at the heart of the community with a wide variety of social events and functions from dances to pantomime and I just want to get that building buzzing with life again,” he said.

But he needs your help: He is looking for his Cinderella - any young woman (aged 17- 35) from either Staincross, Mapplewell or Darton areas plus he also needs young people for other roles in the production too – including chorus,  make up and other jobs.

They must be able to commit to the weekly rehearsal every Monday 19:00 to 21:00 and the show will open for a three night run from 23 to 25 February 2017.

If you are a local business and willing to help, John also wants to hear from you.
