Rural ministry in the catholic tradition: the Parish of Broughton, Marton and Thornton is set in beautiful countryside, just south of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and west of Skipton. This is a genuinely rural setting, with good schools, markets and transport links nearby. It includes three churches, which maintain a rich liturgical tradition, serving one village and four hamlets, including a primary school. The benefice has pastoral and sacramental oversight from the Bishop of Wakefield, and is seeking a priest of the Society of St Wilfred and St Hilda. Their new priest will believe, live out and teach the faith of the Church, will be rooted and grounded in scripture as expressed in the creeds and will have the Eucharist lie at the heart of his priestly life. They are looking for him not only to enable his congregation to grow in its own life of spirituality, prayer and understanding of faith, but also to reach out to the local community and actively welcome and encourage others on their journey towards God. There is an excellent modern rectory. Christ Church, Oxford is joint patron, and supports the incumbent through the Dr South Trust. This is a 0.5 FTE post.
