Diocesan Synod is where it all happens, where confident Christians, clergy and laity of all ages gather three times a year at different locations for the debate and decision making that governs our direction. The Bishop of Leeds, Rt Revd Nick Baines, here introduces the Parish Giving Scheme. The Parish Giving Scheme is an established planned giving scheme for churches that will be launched across the Diocese of Leeds in January 2020. Parishes in the Diocese can pre-register to join the Parish Giving Scheme prior to its official launch in January. The Parish Giving Scheme is currently being piloted across the Diocese until the end of 2019. On Tuesday, November 5 you are welcome to the W-Word Day at St Paul's Church, Morley. The W-Word is all about Worship. Whatever our tradition, this day seeks to explore how we can lead worship in a way which touches people with a warmth of humanity and the wonderment of divinity. How we can create a doable act of worship which welcomes, connects, interests and makes people want to come back to our churches. Young adults from across our region are embarking on an exciting learning journey as they start on our Diocesan Internship Scheme. The scheme brings together young people serving in churches across the diocese to stretch and challenge them in discipleship, to grow their gifts and skills and to help them discover more of what God is calling them to. Young people from across the Diocese and beyond gathered for this summer’s Ripon Venture camps, which combine fun activities with Christian engagement. Guided by various leaders, two week-long residential courses at Ripon Grammar School for 11 to 18-year-olds included team-building exercises, such as gorge scrambling, cave exploration and group games. This year also saw the launch of a third camp, Ripon 3, which welcomed around 50 young people between the ages of 8 to 11.
