Abbey Grange Church of England Academy in the Leeds area is celebrating a highly positive Ofsted inspection outcome, with inspectors recognising the school’s strong standards, inclusive culture and ambitious provision for all pupils.
Following an inspection in May 2026, the school achieved six “Strong Standard” judgements and one “Expected Standard” judgement, with all safeguarding standards successfully met.
Under Ofsted’s new and more rigorous framework, the “Expected Standard” represents a secure national benchmark with no areas of weakness.
Inspectors highlighted the school’s strong sense of community, positive behaviour and high-quality curriculum, alongside excellent outcomes for disadvantaged pupils and a particularly strong careers programme.
The report notes that “pupils are proud to belong to Abbey Grange… they feel known, welcomed and encouraged to be their best selves… ‘everyone is appreciated for who they are’.”
Behaviour and relationships were also praised, with inspectors commenting: “Behaviour across the school is calm and respectful… pupils respond well to the tangible family atmosphere that is present throughout the school.”
The report also recognised the consistently high expectations set by staff, noting that suspensions are “very low and continue to decline”, and highlighting that pupils benefit from “a well-planned, ambitious curriculum” which they enjoy.
Inspectors found that disadvantaged pupils achieve particularly well, with progress scores “well above their peers nationally”, and concluded that students leave the school “well prepared for their next steps”, with careers education identified as “a significant strength”.
