Wakefield Cathedral will host a diocesan Vocations Fayre on Wednesday, April 22, offering an open and welcoming space for anyone exploring a call to ministry within the Church of England.
The event brings together representatives from a wide range of Christian ministries, including ordained and lay pathways, chaplaincy, youth and children’s ministry, theological education, spiritual formation, and UKME/Global Majority ministry.
Attendees will have opportunities to take part in guided reflection, hear short themed talks, and engage in one-to-one conversations with people already living out their vocation.
The evening runs from 6pm – 9pm, and forms part of the Diocese of Leeds’ preparation for Vocations Sunday on Sunday, April 26.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Revd Canon Sean Robertshaw, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Leeds, said: “This Vocations Fair is about supporting everyone who may be exploring a vocation to ministry in the Church of England whether that sense of calling is clear, emerging, or a quiet curiosity.
“We want to offer an open, prayerful space where people can listen to God, encounter real stories from across the Church, and explore the many ways God calls people to serve.”
The evening will include short talks on younger and emerging vocations, chaplaincy, UKME and Global Majority pathways, theological education, and spiritual formation, alongside a programme of stalls hosted in the Cathedral nave throughout the evening designed to help participants explore their own questions with an experienced practitioner.
Refreshments will be available, and participants are welcome to attend just part of the programme or stay for the full event.
The Vocations Fair is open to anyone discerning next steps, from young adults and those new to faith, to experienced church members considering a change of direction.
