Prayer pilgrimage around Keighley by local priest

One of our Bradford priests has been on a prayer pilgrimage around his town aiming to pray for every street in the area.

The Revd Canon Richard Burge, Team Rector of Keighley, has begun visiting every neighbourhood within the parish as part of his pilgrimage that started on Ash Wednesday earlier this year.

Since beginning the pilgrimage, Revd Richard has been walking along different streets in Keighley, saying a prayer for each street he is on and for the town as a whole.

He has recorded these prayers and shared them on the parish Facebook page.

Revd Richard said: “It seemed good to start on Ashbourne Road, and I have now visited every neighbourhood within the parish.

“I have met lots of people.

“It was a great joy to pray across the town through Lent and Holy Week and into Eastertide.”

The journey will continue through Pentecost Sunday, May 24, bringing the total number of prayers and streets to 96.

The prayers can be seen of the parish’s Facebook page here.
