Beautiful flowers have been attracting local people and those from further afield to one of our Huddersfield area churches.
St Mary’s Outlane have recently held a flower festival, looking at the theme ‘All Are Welcome’.
Karen Longbottom, Churchwarden at St Mary’s, pulled together a talented and creative team to put together displays sharing the theme, as well as bringing together the church’s mission and Sacraments.
The festival opened on Friday, September 18 with a short service, and food was served food throughout the weekend.
The Slaithwaite Oompah band gave a concert on the evening of Saturday September 19, while on Sunday, September 20 people gathered from across the three churches that make up the benefice St Mary’s is in for a café-style Eucharist.
The event culminated with a Songs of Praise and prayers of thanks.
The Revd Amanda Ogilvie, Vicar of St Mary's Outlane, St Andrew's Stainland and St Thomas West Vale and Greetland, said: “What an amazing team of creativity and talent brought this event together and it was a wonderful witness across our parish and beyond, raising funds and above all speaking to our desire to be inclusive to all and welcome everyone.”
