Events to mark the 10th Anniversary of the Diocese of Leeds on Saturday, April 20 begin that weekend with a special visit by the Archbishop of York.

The Most Revd Stephen Cottrell will meet clergy and their communities in different settings across our large and diverse diocese.

He will hear their stories from the last ten years and learn of their confident plans for the future.

The Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds will join Archbishop Stephen on his three day missional tour of our villages, towns and cities and said ahead of the visit:

“In the last ten years we have faced and overcome many challenges. I am deeply indebted to all colleagues – clergy and lay – for having the courage to make this happen.”

Archbishop Stephen served as a Diocesan Missioner in the former Diocese of Wakefield and said he welcomed the chance to meet the people of our parishes, churches and cathedrals.

“I'm really looking forward to coming to the Diocese of Leeds to help celebrate your 10th anniversary.

“The roots of the Christian faith go deep in this lovely bit of Yorkshire where you serve. It's a diocese I know and love. I'm praying that God will richly bless you and that through my visit, God will open doors of opportunity for us to witness to Christ.”

He will start his visit on Friday April, 19 in the rural setting of Leyburn Auction Mart, then travel all around the diocese, including attending 10th Anniversary Service at Bradford Cathedral on Saturday, April 20 at 3pm. That service is open to all and will also be livestreamed.
