‘Prayers for Sudan’ to be held in Bradford Cathedral

First published on: 24th April 2023

A short service will be held at Bradford Cathedral on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:30pm to offer prayers to those caught up in the conflict that has erupted in Sudan over the last week.

The short service will be led by the Rt Revd Toby Howarth, Bishop of Bradford, and will include representatives from across the faiths, offering prayers and reflections.

The Revd Ludia Shukai of Great Horton and Lidget Green will also speak.

People are encouraged to fast during the day if they are able to and it is part of their faith tradition.

The Revd Ned Lunn, Canon for Intercultural Mission and the Arts, says: “As fighting continues in Sudan and hope for a ceasefire has crumbled, we invite people to come and pray for peace.

“The Diocese of Leeds, of which we are a part, has strong links with Sudan and with that comes personal connection with the tragedy.

“We will focus our regular evening prayers on this day on seeking God's peace and protection on all involved and affected by this devastating situation.”

All are welcome to join this service, and it will also be streamed online via the Bradford Cathedral YouTube channel.

All are welcome to turn up on the evening, or you can find out more here or here.

The service will be streamed live here..
