All things bright and Blubberhouses as church worships outdoors

First published on: 21st August 2023

Brave folk in Blubberhouses who worship outdoors throughout August were blessed with beautiful weather on Sunday.

St Andrew’s near Fewston Reservoir, which together with the community hosts the Nidd Art Trail, promotes Fresh Air Worship in summertime which rejoices in the artistry of nature.

On Sunday, they celebrated the theme of all humans being made in the image of creator God and given creative gifts to use.

Music was provided by saxophonist Steph Atkinson and congregation members on keyboard and flute. The congregation wrote a new 'Blubberhouse Chorus’ to add to the hymn 'All things bright and beautiful' which goes: “All of God's Creation, the sky the fields, the trees. All the sheep and animals, we are so blessed by these.”

Children painted and explored, finding multiple grasshoppers and even a live mole, said Licensed Lay Minister Fiona Schneider.

“Empowering the congregation to create worship and share their experience is a powerful encouragement,” Fiona said.

“We pray it builds confidence to explore more creativity in sharing the good news of Jesus with those we meet and live with. It's a beautiful world made by an Almighty God!”
