A strong working relationship between our Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) and a Ripon area church has been demonstrated recently.
Delegates from the DAC were pleased to meet with representatives from the Church Buildings Council and St Wilfrid’s Harrogate recently to discuss a range of proposals including renovated hospitality and W/C facilities, accessibility improvements across the site, relandscaping, a major re-lighting scheme, and some internal sanctuary reordering.
Fr Gary Waddington, Vicar of the church, and the church architect, Christopher Cotton, took delegates on a tour of the building to share their aspirations for the project and receive comments.
The proposals are a testament to the importance of a strong working-relationship between churches and their architects who understand the individual challenges of the building.
The Church Buildings Council are part of the Church of England, and are statutory consultees for major works to churches.
Site visits by the DAC are beneficial for all involved as they help the DAC obtain a better understanding of the proposals and to help parishes develop their ideas with input from our expert members and advisors.
They are particularly useful in cases where parishes are intending to undertake large-scale or complex projects.
