Praying Together as a Church

In the Book of Acts we see that the first followers of the risen Jesus were people who prayed together. They prayed in their homes, they prayed outside, they prayed (or at least tried to pray) in the regular Temple prayer rhythm. Throughout church history, when churches pray together something happens.

Your church may already gather in person or online to pray but here are some other ways to pray together:

If your church is not ready to meet together in a prayer meeting, then you may want to use the intercessions in a service to pray for mission. Many of our churches use the LYCIG prayer for Growth.

God of mission,

Who alone brings growth to your Church,

Send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning,

Wisdom to our actions,

And power to our witness.

Help our church to grow in numbers,

In spiritual commitment to you,

And in service to our local community,

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen
