Support for Treasurers

As we have talked about Barnabas: Encouraging Confidence in our deaneries, we have come to recognise that finding, training and supporting treasurers is a real challenge. Work continues behind the scenes to explore how we as a diocese can offer more support. In the meantime, there are people doing creative things in this space, with an example below.

General Support

Treasurers play a vital role in the financial life and mission of our parishes. Follow the links below to find out how Parish Finance Support Team and the Finance team can help you with a wide range of services, advice and resources:

Another useful resource is The Association of Church Accountants and Treasurers (ACAT), which provides advice, training and information on accounting, financial and legal issues. ACAT also produce a Handbook for new treasurers and it is free for all to access here. Membership of ACAT for your church will be funded by the diocese. Access the ACAT website here. To find out how to take up membership, please see our Parish Finance Support pages.

Watch this video below of a parish treasurer to learn about the different types of support a treasurer can access in the diocese.

Financial Review

A financial review can be really helpful to highlight any opportunities for your church to reduce expenditure and generate income. It can also help identify the resources available to support this. It looks in depth at income and expenditure trends of a PCC over a 10-year period, using your Parish Returns data.

If your PCC would like a member of the Stewardship Team to prepare a financial review please contact the team directly by email at resourcingparishes@leeds.anglican.org to discuss.
