Support for Parishes in Mission

It is hard to find a phrase that captures what we mean when talking about parishes in mission. Some of us identify as being a single church, others are parishes and others as benefices. There is no perfect phrase. This support, which we previously called Missional leadership development (MLD) is about how groups of people in churches, both lay people and clergy, can join together to grow in their sense of responsibility for the mission of the church, and develop their confidence in delivering that mission.

The offers of support in this area involve working with groups of people in churches (a group meaning more than 2 people). Where there are clergy in the church, they will be involved, but not always leading the way; there is a high value on working together.

Missional leadership development, if it is effective, helps churches to identify where they are and where they need to be, in order to be truly Good News in their communities. It enables those churches to be confident to make steps towards that goal, and will see people within the church grow in their confidence to play their part.

There might be a number of resources we have to help here: to identify the right ones you might find it helpful to run Compass
