Financial assistance

In cases of financial hardship or unexpected expense, the Archdeacon should be contacted. 

Limited funds are available via the Bishops and Archdeacons, in cases of special need.

Clergy Stipend Trust
The prevention or relief of poverty throughout England and Wales by the augmentation of the stipends of parsons, vicars, curates and ministers officiating in the churches and chapels of the Church of England, the relief of poverty among the clergy and the advancement of religion in accordance with the faith and doctrine of the Church of England

The Darnbrough Fund
The Income can be used for the augmentation of poor benefices within the Archdeaconry of Richmond (as constituted in 1917). The balance of the income is available to give grants to necessitous clergy of the Deaneries of Richmond, Wensley & Ripon. The capital can be spent if the DBF agrees.

Henry Smith Poor Clergy Fund 
Clergy  experiencing  hardship,  particularly  when managing on one income (financial or otherwise). Emergency situations. Educational and private health care exempt. Min £500. Max £2,000. Means-tested. Not applicable to single or retired clergy.

Leeds Diocese Charitable Society Trust 
The object of the charity is to apply the clear income in relieving the need among clergy, deacons and licensed lay workers who are resident in or have served in the Diocese of Leeds and among persons who are dependent relatives of any members of the clergy by making grants of money. Rapid response to personal needs as and when they arise.

Clergy under 70 years and their families suffering hardship as a result of serious illness, injury, accident or special circumstances. Education excluded.

The Queen Victoria Clergy Fund 

The Fund provides relief to serving CofE clergy in financial need. It does not consider individual applications but apportions its annual charitable income among the dioceses of the CofE using an agreed formula. Each diocese applies the Fund's grant on a confidential basis through its discretionary funds.

The Rachel Dixon Fund To provide grants for the widows of clergy who have served in the Diocese of Leeds for at least 3 years.

Rustat Grants 
Clergy (particularly those below status of incumbent) with children at school. Help with educational expenses, special needs, school uniforms, urgent and unforeseen needs of a child. Also able to provide bursaries for children who gain a place at Jesus College, Cambridge, to supplement maintenance awards, reducing the need of student loans.
