New online taster for Personal Growth and Leadership programme

The Diocese of Leeds is pleased to offer a new online taster session of a course which will help people to become confident Christians, as part of our Barnabas: Encouraging Confidence work.

We are sharing an open invitation for churches from across the diocese to come and learn more about the Personal Growth and Leadership (PGL) Programme which will run again this autumn, on six Saturdays from September to March 2026.

The taster session will be on Wednesday, June 25, from 7pm to 9pm.

One of the offers that our Barnabas work brings are resources and opportunities to grow confident Christians.

PGL is a course that helps churches and people in the diocese grow in confidence, particularly people who have not had responsibilities in the life of the church before.

This is not just for people who are already leading, but also for those with the potential for increasing their leadership within a church.

You can watch testimonies from those who were part of last year’s cohort in our just released video below, and hear people share the positive development and gain in confidence they have experienced and seen others have.

Personal Growth and Leadership is for teams of clergy and lay together and seeks to increase confidence in leadership skills and learn how to apply them; grow together in awareness and appreciation of lay and clergy gifts within parishes and identify how to release them; and build mutually supportive relationships as lay and clergy.

Ideally, this course is for church groups rather than for individuals without a group; however, feel free to join the taster on your own.

Please email barnabas@leeds.anglican.org to ask any questions, and to book onto the taster session.

We are very keen to ensure that as much as possible participation in Barnabas is not limited by finances.

The diocese has small access grants available for anybody who needs support.

Please contact the Barnabas email address for more details.
