We are seeking a highly organised and personable individual to join the Diocese of Leeds as a part-time PA to the Archdeacon of Pontefract. This is a rewarding and varied role supporting the Archdeacon in delivering pastoral, administrative, and secretarial responsibilities across the Episcopal Area. The post will be based at our Wakefield Office, situated in Thornes Park, Wakefield WF2 8QZ.

About the Role

You will provide confidential, efficient, and proactive support to the Archdeacon, acting as a key point of contact for clergy, diocesan staff, and external organisations. The role involves servicing committees, coordinating pastoral visits, managing diary appointments, and supporting clergy vacancies and training events. You’ll also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, preparing correspondence, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations in the Archdeacon’s office.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Servicing meetings and committees including Wakefield Bishop’s Breakfast, Area Mission and Pastoral Committee, and Tanzanian Diocesan Links.
  • Coordinating pastoral visits, visitations, and churchwarden communications.
  • Supporting clergy vacancy administration and liaising with applicants and referees.
  • Managing the Archdeacon’s diary, correspondence, and confidential records.
  • Providing hospitality and welcoming visitors.
  • Handling petty cash and liaising with the Finance Team.

The package includes a competitive salary, flexi-time scheme, an 8% non-contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working, Cycle to work scheme, EV salary sacrifice scheme and 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).

Salary: £13372.12 (FTE £26744.24) to £16743.63 (FTE £33487.26)
