Art trail shares creativity in Blubberhouses

First published on: 30th August 2022

Creativity and culture have been shared with the residents of Blubberhouses, thanks to an art trail that filled the local church.

Photographers, a potter, woodworkers, and an author shared their works in St Andrew’s Blubberhouses during August, and a new bench is to be put in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Fiona Schneider, Reader at the church, said: “We held a Sunday service outside celebrating God’s creativity in human life, being made in the image of our Creator.

“There was time for drawing and writing and reflections.

“The flowers in the church are by Daphne Wilson and a Haiku poem was shared by James Ross.

“We have a location outside to be the site of a new bench in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“It will be at the east, sheltered by the church from the winds down Kex Gill.

“The bench will be dedicated at the service at 11am on Sunday, September 18, and is a beautiful, practical artwork made locally.

“It is hoped it will be well used.”
