New Mission Apprentices start their year of service

Twenty Mission Apprentices have started their year of service across the Bradford and Leeds areas.

This year, we have 15 new Mission Apprentices starting, as well as five continuing into their second year.

Our Mission Apprentices have been recruited to help drive and expand the church’s mission and revitalisation work in the Bradford and Leeds Episcopal Areas.

Being a Mission Apprentice is a two-year long adventure giving people an experience of leadership and service, learning alongside the community of other Mission Apprentices.

The Mission Apprentices are able to explore more of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and grow as a leader of mission in local churches, while being given skills to equip them for life, work, mission and leadership, and the opportunity to use and develop these.

The Ven Andy Jolley, Archdeacon of Bradford, said: "It was wonderful to join the new cohort of Mission Apprentices at the first meeting of their learning community.

“They are a marvellously diverse group of people, from different cultures and contexts, but all keen to get stuck in with helping to develop mission and ministry in the churches with whom they are serving."

The Mission Apprentices are serving in Fountains Bradford; Frizinghall; Shelf; Bowling; Thornton and Allerton; Girlington, Heaton and Manningham; Great Horton and Lidget Green; Greengates; Wrose; Keighley; Alwoodley; and West Bowling.
