Across the Diocese of Leeds there are plenty of exciting opportunities to grow in faith as well as to develop your skills and gifts in order to serve God and all God's people within and beyond the Church. These range from one-off events to more sustained courses.
In addition to courses offered at deanery-level, a variety of training opportunities are organised in Episcopal Areas and diocesan-wide inlcuding online learning that can be undertaken independently or within a taught course. The Lay Training Officers provide local training within Deaneries for commisisoned ministries, such as Lay Worship Leaders and Lay Pastoral Ministers, for the whole of our diocese. For more information on the full range of our courses head to the Digital Learning Platform.
Find more information here on the various Lay Ministry Pathways offered in our diocese.
All those who administer the bread and wine as part of the Eucharist/Holy Communion are required to have the Bishop’s authorisation to do so. To receive this, they should complete diocesan Eucharistic Ministers training. Authorisation is renewed on a five-year cycle. Resources and guidelines are available via the Digital Learning Platform for incumbents to run the required training in their own parishes - these can be found here. This covers training for church services and for home Communion. If you would be willing to open up the training in your parish to people from other parishes, please contact Anne Payne to advertise it more widely.
Members of the Diocesan Lay Training Team will be pleased to provide further details, even if your enquiry is tentative. Their contact details are below:
