Disability network boosted following annual church meetings

Disability NetworkMore than thirty parish disability representatives, many of them recently elected at annual parochial church meetings have been learning how churches can better support  those with sight loss.

The parish reps are part of a network, originally set up twelve years ago in the former Bradford diocese, which has been boosted following Annual meetings at which the issues of disability, accessability and inclusion were placed on church agendas.

The meeting, this month, at Kadugli House in Steeton near Keighley, was addressed by James Seager from the TorchTrust who spoke about helping those with sight impairment and sight loss. There was also discussion about the role of parish disability reps and they can promote and facilitate inclusion of anyone with an impairment.

Future plans include a day session at St Peters Shipley on Saturday 15th October on Keeping Healthy Minds. It will be open to anyone interested, and follows on from the one woman drama on mental health, presented last year by Eva Macintyre.
