Follow the Star: The Great Invitation

After a series of difficult Christmases, Churches across the diocese are encouraged to welcome people back to services and events this Advent, as part of the Church of England’s annual Christmas campaign.

This year’s campaign, ‘Follow the Star: The Great Invitation’ aims to support, equip and inspire churches to invite as many people as possible to church this December. Discover the many great resources that are available here on the Church of England website.

The services and events will be specific to your community, but here you will find signposts to the national branding, model services, blogs, reflections and more that will help you to invite people into your church – both online and onsite.

Churches are advised to list onsite and online services on AChurchNearYou.com, using an Advent or Christmas tag. From the start of Advent, they will then appear on a special Christmas landing page, that the Church of England will be driving the public to via advertising and publications.

As part of the national campaign, the Church of England are also encouraging people to share their answers to Christmas questions. These can be produced in the form of a video or a WhatsApp voice note and will be shared on the Church of England’s national social media accounts during Advent, to invite the nation to church this Advent and Christmas. Any contributions must be submitted by Monday, November 14.

In order to produce Christmas content for young people, the Church of England have collaborated with The Way UK. Throughout Advent, they will be sharing videos suitable for young people on their Tik Tok, Instagram and YouTube accounts.
