A new Mothers' Union gains official recognition

The Mothers’ Union of the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales is now official!

The Worldwide Council of Mothers' Union has given its assent to the affiliation of the new Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. The affiliation certificate was signed by Worldwide President, Lynne Tembey, in the presence of  members of Council. With Lynne (in the attached photograph) are Barbara Taylor, President of the Province of York, and the three Diocesan Presidents: Ros Dobbin (Ripon and Leeds), Jean Bailey (Bradford) and Cynthia Osborne (Wakefield).

The certificate reads, “In order to further and promote the aim and work of the Society throughout the world, the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales desires to enter into union by affiliation .  .  . This affiliation was resolved by the Board of Trustees with the assent of Worldwide Council”

Barbara Taylor commented “The three former dioceses are working extremely well together, under the slogan ‘Shaping our future - let's shape it together’. It is an exciting, if challenging, time for Mothers' Union as well as for the Church.”
