Christmas card competition from Mothers' Union

The Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Leeds is looking for children in our diocese to design a Christmas card.

Every year they send every person in prison a Christmas card signed by Mothers’ Union members, and another blank card for prisoners to send to their loved ones.

Due to the pandemic, Mothers’ Union volunteers have been unable to go into prisons in the diocese but have been keeping in touch with the prisons by email, and wanted to do something more to support those in prison this Christmas.

The competition aims to produce three suitable designs, created by children for those in prison to send to their own child or grandchild.

It is open all those in school years 3, 4, 5 and 6, and the winners will receive a book token.

To enter, all you must do is create your own design on A4 paper in landscape view, using paints or felt tips.

Then, print your name, age, and contact details on the pack of your design in pencil.

Please then send your design to: Mothers’ Union, C/O 142 Greenfield Road, Holmfirth HD9 2LP, or email them to gravonne@btinternet.com.

The deadline for entries for the competition is October 15, 2021.

Three winners will be chosen and will have their design professionally printed as a Christmas card to be given to prison chaplains to offer to prisoners to send to their own children.

Winners will have their designs displayed on the diocesan website.
