Diocesan Generosity Week kicks off at the end of the month

The Diocese of Leeds is pleased to announce it will be holding its first ever Diocesan Generosity Week this September.

From September 26 to October 3, churches and individuals are encouraged to explore God’s generosity through eight days of service and worship materials.

The many resources available have been written by the experts in the National Giving Team, and they can be adapted for use by churches to suit different context and needs.

All the materials are undated so can be used to hold a generosity week whenever suits a church best.

For members of our worshipping community and beyond, the diocese will be broadcasting a range of Facebook Live events, webinars, and social media posts to enable folk to join in across the diocese.

Becky Nicholson, Lead Stewardship Officer at the Diocese of Leeds, said: “Generosity Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the generosity that has helped us through these difficult times, reflect on God’s generosity to us and explore how we can grow generosity in our lives.

“We have designed the week to be as inclusive as possible and using social media and our webpages can involve everyone, whether part of a worshipping church community or not.

“We know churches will be holding new and exciting events and services over the week so we would love to hear what you are planning.

“We may be able to join you and if you aren’t camera shy, take photos and the odd short film or two!”

The Rt Revd Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds, said: “Generosity lies at the heart of Christian discipleship.

“God’s generosity to us in Christ is reflected in our resourcing the mission of the Church: to love God, the creation and our neighbour as ourselves; to live in God’s world, committed to it as a reflection of God’s love and mercy; and to learn that love and generosity go together.

“I look forward to being inspired by this week and the stories that will be told.”
