Fairtrade bananas on bikes aim to break the cycle of poverty

Fairtrade bananasA peloton of Yorkshire’s very own Fairtrade bananas rode the Haworth to Oxenhope section of the Yorkshire Grand Depart route of the Tour de France ahead of the race itself to create a video which is now available online.

The video:   “Fairtrade Yorkshire: on the road to a fairer future”  is on  www.fairtradeyorkshire.org.uk               https://vimeo.com/99783376

It  was commissioned by the Bradford Fairtrade Zone for Fairtrade Yorkshire. Vive “Le commerce equitable”  www.fairtradeyorkshire.org.uk

Karen Palframan, Chair of the Bradford Fairtrade Zone and a member of St. John’s, Ben Rhydding, said, “Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers. There is a lot of Fairtrade activity across the diocese – two of the three former dioceses had Fairtrade diocese status. Yorkshire is the UK’s first Fairtrade Region with over 35 Fairtrade villages, towns, and cities, plus Fairtrade schools, universities, churches, cafes, restaurants, shops, businesses etc. Together we can end the cycle of poverty.”
