Golden wedding couples invited to renew their vows

Golden wedding serviceCouples who were married in 1964 or earlier are invited to share their Golden Wedding celebration at Ripon Cathedral on Sunday 15 June at 3pm.

The invitation is to take part in a special service of blessing, an opportunity to renew wedding vows and to reflect on and celebrate many years of married life with the Right Reverend Colin Buchanan, the former Bishop of Woolwich.

The Golden Wedding service has been increasing in popularity each year since it began in 1999 and nowadays there is often a waiting list of couples wanting to take part and renew their vows. As well as couples celebrating 50 years of marriage one or two couples will be celebrating their diamond wedding anniversaries, 60 years of marriage, and in previous years there have even been platinum couples celebrating 70 years!

For those couples and their guests interested in attending this unique occasion, regardless of where the couples now reside, they can apply for tickets to Mrs Linda Bennett, The Chapter House, Ripon Cathedral, Ripon, HG4 1QT.
