Bradford Cathedral Sing raises the roof

First published on: 15th February 2022

Bradford Cathedral have hosted a successful Cathedral Sing event recently, helping children from across the city to experience the joy of singing in a church choir.

The workshop, held on Saturday, February 12, included working on singing technique, with the children practising singing rounds and how to sing in harmony.

The Saturday workshop also included a short service and, at the end, refreshments.

The children also got the chance to sign up for the ‘Grace Notes’ choir, who meet every week, as the first step on the journey to becoming a full member of the choir.

Alex Berry, the Cathedral’s Director of Music, said: "Cathedral Sing was absolutely fantastic, it's the first time in two years that we’ve been able to have the Cathedral full of children for an event like this and it was so successful- we had 90 or 100 children turning up from around 15 different schools, and they sang really well.

“Lots and lots of positive noises from prospective parents as well so a great day."
