More than £2,000 has been raised by St. Hilda's Church, Cross Green, Leeds, for humanitarian aid for the people of Ukraine through a sponsored walk.
Parish priest Father Darren Percival, Parish reader Lorraine Butterfield, accompanied by Fr Darren's dog Poppy, walked just over 11 miles in three and a half hours from St Hilda's to Bradford Cathedral.
The inspiration for the walk came through a member of a Polish family who worship at the inner-city church in one of the poorest parishes in the country.
The money will be given to the Salvation Army who have people working on the ground in Ukraine and Poland, directing the aid where most needed to help the thousands of refugees who have fled to the country.
The walk ended in the Cathedral's St Aidan's Chapel, where prayers were said for the people of Ukraine, and giving thanks for the generosity of the many people both locally and further afield who had sponsored it.
There were a few tired legs - and paws - next day especially for Fr Darren who was doing his first major walk since having major knee surgery three years ago.
