Are you passionate about driving environmental change? Do you have the vision and expertise to embed sustainability within a large and dynamic organisation? We are seeking a dedicated Programme Manager to spearhead our Net Zero Carbon Strategy, ensuring meaningful progress toward environmental responsibility across the Diocese.
About the Role
As Programme Manager, you will:
- Oversee and drive the implementation of our Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Strategy, collaborating with departments such as Property, Church Buildings, and Education.
- Play a strategic role in securing and managing funding, ensuring resources are effectively utilised for impactful sustainability initiatives.
- Support the governance of our environmental programme, working closely with the Lead Bishop for the Environment to shape vision, agendas, and reports.
- Recruit, equip, and nurture a network of volunteers, including Episcopal Area Environment Champions and Parish Environment Officers.
- Foster momentum for environmental engagement, advising leadership teams and supporting parishes in their journey toward achieving Eco Church awards.
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Strong project management skills, ideally with a track record of delivering sustainability initiatives.
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities, engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- A passion for environmental advocacy and mission, with a commitment to driving real change.
- Experience in grant funding and budget management within environmental programmes (desirable but not essential).

The package includes a competitive salary of £35,058.20 to £36,087.82, flexi-time scheme, an 8% non-contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working (50%), and 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).
