Strategic Safeguarding Committee

The Strategic Safeguarding Committee is responsible for the oversight of policy, procedures, training and guidance and is accountable for safeguarding work throughout the Diocese. This Committee, led by a chairperson who is independent of the Church, has a proportion of members who represent the statutory agencies, who also bring about a degree of independence and challenge.

The Strategic Safeguarding committee meet three times a year. In 2020 members welcomed a new Independent Chairperson, whose extensive experience in safeguarding has included strategic senior leadership roles in safeguarding. The Committee was pleased to welcome someone with such a wealth of experience to bring both support and challenge to safeguarding to the Diocese.
